Today you will visit the Archeological site of Pompeii, the old town that was covered by Lava from the Catastrophic Eruption of Mounth Vesuvius spanning two days in 79 A.D. and was escavated only few Centuries ago.
Here you will have choice to book a license guide that will lead you inside the ruins for 2 hours and we can arrange a professional one for you otherwise you can walk in the ruins on your own.
The tour will continue to the Archeological site of Herculaneum, the town which is located at southeast of the city of Naples. The medieval town of Resina was built on the volcanic material left by the eruption of Vesuvius (AD 79) that destroyed the ancient town of Herculaneum, from which the present name is derived. Here you will have time to visit the ruins of Herculaneum, where in the ancient town lived the wealthy families of the Roman Empire.
The tour will continue towards Mounth Vesuvius, that is well known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the death of 10,000 to 25,000 people. It has erupted many times since and is today regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3,000,000 people living nearby and its tendency towards explosive (Plinian) eruptions. Your driver will take you almost to the top of the Volcano, where in 40 min walking you can get to the summit and join the breathtaking view of all the bay of Naples.
The tour will end in the afternoon at 17:00.
